Issue 03/09 of Council News
Dear BMW Club Members,
The summer is gradually coming to a close. But it has given us lots of hours of sunshine - best spent on a motorbike, of course. In our latest issue of the Council News you can find out about what has been going on in all of the clubs.
In the editorial you are greeted by Ulrich Arendts, who succeeded Jörg-Deiter Hübner in August and is now responsible for the BMW Clubs worldwide.
There was pure roadster pleasure on the Z4 test drive. Six board members of the BMW Clubs of Switzerland had the opportunity to put the Roadster to the acid test on a drive along winding country roads. Even the sound of the engine made the test drivers’ hearts skip a beat. Christian Moser, treasurer of BMW Club Seetal, reports on his impressions of an unforgettable trip.
If you happen to be planning a Club tour to Munich or if you would like to spend a few days in BMW’s home town on a private trip, you will surely be interested to find out more about the special offer provided by our cooperation partner, the DERAG Hotel Karl Theodor.
The Club portrait in this issue focuses on the BMW Motorcycle Club Tirol. Harald Flecker, President of the club, tells about how he founded his club by putting an advertisement in the newspaper. Membership is constantly growing due to the interesting and varied activities he offers. On page 11 you can find out what kind of activities club members get involved in.

Issue 02/09 of Council News
Dear BMW Club Members,
The latest issue of Council News once again offers you interesting news of
BMW from all over the world, including details of the main events on the club scene.
The BMW 700 has good reason to celebrate this year it is now the 50th
anniversary of the “savior”. Although this vehicle represented a complete
departure from the BMW shapes common up to that time, its development in
1959 succeeded in preventing the sale of BMW. From page 3 you can read
about just how the BMW 700 became so hugely popular.
You can also catch up on the continuation of the unusual “Dream trip for
three” with Marlotte and Peter Backhaus in their Goggomobil. A journey
covering 200,000 km through 80 countries provided the material for a
fascinating documentary - and a film with unique footage of these
countries and the people who live there.
The BMW Club Croatia also celebrates its anniversary, now looking back
over 10 years since its founding. Here, drivers and fans tell of their
experiences with the cars as well as sharing their passion for their
beloved brand BMW.
The Club Portrait on page 11 provides a fascinating insight into the
biggest and oldest vintage motorcycle club in North America, so here you
can look forward to a tour with the “Vintage BMW Motorcycle Owners”.
The team of the BMW Clubs International Office wishes you a great summer
and we hope you enjoy reading Council News!

Issue 01/09 of Council News
Dear BMW Club Members,
Spring approaches and with it comes the latest issue of Council News. Once again you will find interesting stories about BMW from all over the world.
For example, read how a young couple travelled round the world in the legendary Goggomobil at the end of the fifties. For four years, the little car was their mobile home: porcelain crockery, coffee machine, and tent everything was on board. In the first part of our new series we tell you how this great adventure got underway.
You can find out more about legendary classic cars on the BMW Classic website which now boasts a new design. The website is now available in English, too, and offers many new functions such as improved contact research and order facilities. Why not take a look?
Turning old into new also applies to the BMW Club Corporate Identity. Last year it was given a new appearance, to be applied as of 2011. Many clubs have already started using the new logo. All further data in connection with the new, more modern design guidelines is to be found on a CD which was sent out to all umbrella organisations as well as on the website of the BMW Clubs International Council.
Join us, too, as we remember the bush fires which plagued Australia in February. Strong winds and rising temperatures caused devastating fires with flames up to 80 metres high. On behalf of the Australian clubs,
Stewart Garmey thanks club members for their sympathies and tells us what has happened since.
In 2009 you can once again rely on the strong community of the BMW Club.
Get off to a great start in spring with us: the team of the BMW Clubs International Office hopes you enjoy reading the latest issue of the Council Newsletter!
Yours sincerely

Council Website
By now you should all be well aware that the website for the
Council is up and running and fully operational.
Unfortunately, not all websites of affiliated clubs have updated
their sites to include a link (something raised at the last meeting
in Spartanburg) and therefore I am asking you to encourage your
webmasters or make arrangements to ensure appropriate links are
put in place.
The website is the Council's primary communication tool and
thus your cooperation would be appreciated if these links are
not yet in place. If the links to your club website is in place
then I thank you for your actions. Any additional publicity about
the website in club publications would not go astray.
News and Events Calendar
Part of the website lists upcoming major events planned for
clubs affiliated with the Council and other major relevant happenings
of interest. This is your chance to get your events onto the
website.
Requirements can be obtained from the website or the Club
office but are simple and are basically:
o Date of event
o Name of the event
o Venue or location
o Links to relevant sites and contact details
Please send details to dorothee.grau@partner.bmw.de or kati.hockner@partner.bmw.de
and include in the subject line "BMW Event".
Council Newsletter
This publication is only useful as an international club newsletter
if it has news about the international club scene. For this we
rely on your assistance in providing articles and photos of interest.
Please send contributions to the International BMW Club Office
as a lack of material increases the workload of the office staff
and results in the newsletter not necessarily reflecting the
global nature of our structure.
Award Nominations
A reminder about nominations for the Council's two limited
and prestigious awards:
o Friend of the Marque
o Prof. Dr Gerhard Knochlein BMW Mobile Tradition Award
Nominations are to be submitted to the International BMW Club
Office by the 31 July 2005 and must come from or through a Council
member, including any nominations from Accepted Clubs. For details
about the nominations, information required etc please contact
